The Eusoff Expedition team embarked on their annual community service trip to Cambodia on 20th May 2008. Since 2005, Eusoff Hall has been partnering Prey Vang Christian Centre to work with neighbouring villages on annual expeditions to Prey Vang. This is the 4th consecutive expedition by Eusoff Hall back to the Prey Vang province in Cambodia. For 2008, the team headed to Village Sleang, a village which has yet to experience any foreign aid. The team focused on improving the villagers’ access to drinking water through digging wells in the village, and also improving sanitary conditions through constructing toilet cubicles for the villagers’ use. A total of 7 wells and 7 toilets were constructed over in Village Sleang.
Besides construction works, the team also conducted English language and music classes, arts & crafts sessions, as well as a mini sports day for the children from the village. In addition, the team engaged the villagers in activities like a food & culture exchange where local authentic Singaporean dishes were whipped up and presented to the villagers. The villagers duly reciprocated the team’s kind gestures with sumptuous Cambodian fare on the last night. Lastly, a photo exhibition was set up by the team to allow the villagers a peek into lives in Singapore.
