The expedition to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam was carried out by 16 students from various schools of NYP (School of Health Science, Engineering and Information Technology) and 2 staff. The team collaborated with Binh Tanh District Youth Association, under the international youth wing of the Youth Union, or known as the International Youth Club (IVC) in Vietnam.
During the first week, the team had a cultural exchange with the locals. The students from NYP put up several dances and a short play to illustrate the history of Singapore. The team also conducted English for the students of Yen The School. To increase their interaction with the locals, the team also participated in Yen The School’s exercise program. The team also assisted the school to back up school data from the school’s computers and also compiling a simple manual that outlines a step-by-step guide on how to install a computer.
In the second week, the team conducted computer installation lessons and trained the teachers on the usage of some computer software. The team also helped to set up a library in the school with the books that were brought to Ho Chi Minh. The team sorted out the books accordingly and they also shared with the locals the ways to manage the library.
